Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil (Cedrus atlantica) from Morocco is Wildcrafted Therapeutic Quality Essential Oil steam distilled from the wood.
Cedarwood is native to the Atlas Mountains of Algeria and Morocco. The Atlas Cedar Tree is a large evergreen tree that can reach heights of over 150 feet. Its spreading branches have grey-green needles, and the extremely fragrant wood is resistant to rot. Our Therapeutic Quality Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil is Wildcrafted in Morocco, sustainably extracted by steam distillation.
Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil is thick, slightly sticky, and is yellow to deep amber in color. Cedarwood Essential Oil aroma: sweet, woody, balsamic undertones are accented with a top note that is warm and slightly sharp. This oil blends well with other essential oils that are woody and floral, such as clary sage, cypress, frankincense, juniper, ylang ylang, and bergamot.
According to traditional herbal lore, Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil has many properties including:
- antibacterial (respiratory/urinary)
- insecticide/insect repellant
- stimulant (lymphatic)
- tonic (general/lymphatic)
In traditional Western aromatherapy, Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil is considered an excellent lymphatic and has been used in formulas applied topically for cellulite and for weight loss related to the breakdown of fat. For the skin, cedar wood oil is used as an antiseptic against skin infections, as well as for eczema, dandruff, fungal infections, oily skin, acne and boils, dermatitis, and hair loss.
Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil has been used for urinary tract and vaginal infections, coughs, colds and flu, congestion, bronchitis, and for sluggish lymph systems. For issues of the nervous system and mental applications, cedar wood essential oil has been used for stress, anxiety, nervous tension, poor concentration, and for fear and anger.
For cystitis, it has been combined in a massage oil with lavender, eucalyptus, and thyme linalool and applied to the lower abdomen.
