Eucalyptus (Citriodora) 100% Therapeutic-Grade Essential Oil 15ml
Also known as Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil (Eucalyptus Citriodora) from AUSTRALIA is Therapeutic Quality Essential Oil steam distilled from the leaves.
The Lemon Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora), also known as the lemon-scented or blue spotted gum, is a towering tree native to Australia where it reaches heights of over 115 feet. This heavily scented evergreen has smooth bark with a tendency to shed. In addition to its use in aromatherapy and perfumery, it is also important in the production of honey and for timber.
Our cultivated Therapeutic Quality Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the tree’s fresh leaves. Though its penetrating scent may overpower floral aromas, it blends very well with lemon, lavender, and many types of conifers.
Among the properties of Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil are analgesic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antineuralgic, antispasmodic, antitussive, antiviral, balsamic, depurative, immunomodulator, febrifuge, mucolytic, pulmonary antiseptic, pulmonary decongestant, respiratory stimulant, rheumatic, rubefacient, tonic, and vulnerary.
Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil has been used for asthma (only when supervised by properly trained medical professionals), bronchitis, laryngitis, colds, flu, congestion in the chest and sinuses, lymphatic congestion, sinus infection, sore throat, and poor circulation. It is also used to strengthen the immune system after a person has a prolonged bout of illnesses such as bronchitis and pneumonia, colds, or flu, as well as after periods of chronic stress.
Its analgesic properties have made it a favorite for complaints of the musculoskeletal system: Rheumatism and arthritis, aches, pains, sprains, and stiffness, and plantar fasciitis.
Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil has also been used for problems of the skin, as in acne, boils, skin infections, abscesses, blisters, injuries such as burns, cuts, etc., necrotic ulcers, stings and insect bites, and herpes simplex. (Note: Do not use on the face or around the nose.)
It is also used for support for those who feel emotionally constricted or stagnant, as well as for headaches, migraines, neuralgia, and adrenal fatigue. A good blend for emotional support is with Clary Sage and Frankincense Essential Oils.
CAUTION: Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil is generally non-toxic and non-irritating when used externally and diluted properly. As with all eucalyptus oils, do not use with infants or children as it may cause ataxia and muscle weakness. For adults, too much eucalyptus oil can have unpleasant effects, such as over-stimulation and problems with sleep.
Citronellal is the major component of Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil. After it has been refined, the oil from the lemon-scented eucalyptus is commercially used as an effective insect repellent, especially against mosquitoes.
